Frequently Asked Questions

DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?

We are considered an out-of-network clinic meaning you pay a flat rate up front, no frills - no surprises. Process PT will provide each patient with a Superbill in order to submit a claim to your insurance carrier. Depending on your insurance, they may cover some or all of the session. We do recommend calling your insurance carrier to find out what your out-of-network coverage may reimburse.

DO YOU TAKE MY HSA/FSA?

Yes. We encourage you to use HSA/FSA benefits to pay for your treatment sessions.

WHY ARE YOU OUT-OF-NETWORK?

Process PT is out-of-network with insurance in order to provide each patient with the best quality care without the limitations of some insurance carriers. Each PT session will be 1:1 with your physical therapist for 1 hour, a luxury that cannot be replicated in insurance-based clinics. Research has shown that this treatment strategy can provide success in outcomes both faster and for longer.

DO I NEED A PHYSICIAN'S REFERRAL?

No. North Carolina is a "Direct-Access" state - meaning you are able to see a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a physican's referral.

WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING?

Dry needling is a technique used by physical therapists to treat muscle pain and dysfunction. It involves inserting thin, sterile needles (similar to acupuncture needles) into specific points in the muscle tissue. The goal is to release muscle tightness, reduce pain, and improve function.  Dry needling is different from acupuncture, as it is based on Western medicine principles, specifically targeting muscle dysfunction, rather than balancing energy flow (as in acupuncture, which is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine).
